An audit crawls your site the way a search engine robot does, checks every page against the audit rules and gives the site a health score.

Start an audit

  1. Open a verified site and press Run the first audit (later Run a new audit).
  2. The audit runs in the background, so you can leave the page. You will see Crawling the site…, then Analysing the results…, with the number of pages done out of your plan's limit.
  3. You can press Cancel while it runs.

Owners, admins and editors can start audits. Verified sites are also audited again automatically, how often depends on your plan.

The health score

The score goes from 0 to 100: green from 90, amber from 70, red below that. It is the weighted average of ten areas:

  • Crawling & indexing
  • On-page SEO
  • Content
  • Performance
  • Structured data
  • Internal links
  • Mobile
  • Security & trust
  • AI search readiness
  • International & local

The weights change slightly with the site type. For example, structured data counts more for an online store.

The health score is Rutba's measure of technical health. Google does not use it, and a higher score does not guarantee a higher ranking. Fixing the issues removes obstacles that can stop your pages from being crawled, indexed and shown correctly.

Issue levels

  • Critical: blocks indexing or ranking. Fix these first.
  • Warning: clearly hurts SEO.
  • Notice: best practice, lower impact.

An issue on many pages weighs more than the same issue on one page. Open an issue to see the affected pages, why it matters and how to fix it.
